The Level 2 National Award in the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (RQF) provides learners with the underpinning knowledge to support organisations in their commitment and legal obligation to safeguard vulnerable adults.
Overview
The course has been developed using Government guidance including the ‘No Secrets’ 2000 document and is suitable for paid workers, volunteers, supervisors, managers etc. within health and social care.
It is also ideal for anyone who requires refreshing their knowledge on safeguarding vulnerable adults.
The course is designed to provide a national syllabus, but with the opportunity to add local policies and procedures to allow the course to be tailored to each organisation needs.
During this 1 day course, Learners will develop a greater understanding of how to safeguard and protect Vulnerable Adults.
Topics covered include: safeguarding and protection responsibilities, different forms of abuse and how to respond to disclosure or suspected abuse.
Structure
This qualification comprises 1 mandatory unit with a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of 8 hours.
Learners must complete all assessments in the unit successfully within the registration period to achieve the qualification. The maximum period to achieve this qualification, including any referrals is 4 weeks.
TQT is the total number of hours required for a Learner to achieve this qualification. It has 2 elements:
• Guided Learning Hours (GLH) is the time a Learner is being taught and assessed under the immediate guidance of a Trainer/Assessor, which for this qualification is 4 GLH (minimum), and
• The number of hours a Learner will reasonably be likely to spend in preparation and study as directed by but not under the immediate guidance or supervision of a Trainer, e.g. pre-course reading, which for this qualification is 4 hours
The credit value for this qualification is 1 credit. 1 credit is equivalent to 10 hours TQT, as the TQT for this qualification is 8 hours the value is rounded up to 1 credit
Entry Requirements
Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training..
There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.
Assessment
MCQ papers and continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.
Certification
Successful Learners will receive a Nationally Recognised Level 2 National Award in the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults certificate which is valid for 3 years
